Methodology
The 5-step verification process
- Identify the claim. Restate it in one sentence, with the original source.
- Gather primary sources. Official documents, peer-reviewed research, named experts.
- Triangulate. At least three independent sources, plus a counter-position where one exists.
- Apply the verdict. Map evidence to the published verdict scale.
- Publish with sources. Every source is listed by author, title, publication, date and URL.
The verdict scale
- True — Evidence supports the claim.
- Mostly True — Evidence supports the claim, with minor caveats.
- Mixed — Evidence partly supports and partly contradicts the claim.
- Mostly False — Evidence contradicts the claim, with minor truths.
- False — Evidence contradicts the claim.
- Unverified — Insufficient evidence to verdict.
